The Chappuis (pronounced “shap-we”) Society is the SFS Mothers Club. All moms of St. Francis de Sales students and alumni are members and are invited to join us.

Chappuis plans over 30 events each year for the students and families of St. Francis de Sales School. Our events include raising funds for school projects, planning activities for our young Knights, and providing opportunities for mothers and sons to have fun together.

By providing a warm, welcoming, and inclusive community for our mothers, we assist the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales in their Apostolate.

Designer Purse Raffle

The Chappuis Society is excited to announce an upcoming Designer Purse Raffle. First prize is a beautiful brand new Kate Spade bag and 2nd prize is a gently loved Coach bag. To make these purses even more exciting, we’re hoping to fill them with gift cards for shopping, dining, coffee, and local favorites.

We would be so grateful if you could consider donating a gift card (any amount is appreciated!) to help us make this raffle a big success. Your generosity will not only make these prizes extra special, but it will also help us raise important funds used to support the students and faculty of SFS

Please send your donations to the attention of Monica DeDad in the Student Achievement Center. Once the bags are filled with treasures, raffle tickets will be available for purchase.

Stay tuned for more information about this exciting event! The drawing will be held in May, just in time for Mother’s Day!

Thank you in advance for your support. With your help, we can make this fundraiser both fun and successful!

Mary de Sales Chappuis, VHM

Venerable Mother Mary de Sales Chappuis, VHM (1793-1875) played a primary role in the Oblate-Salesian tradition, for, without her, neither the Oblate Sisters nor the Oblate Fathers and Brothers of St. Francis de Sales would exist.

She was instrumental in Blessed Louis Brisson (1817-1908) and St. Léonie Frances de Sales Aviat (1844-1914) co-founding the former (1871), and she was the inspiration for the latter, founded by Brisson (1875).

Through her influence, Brisson and Aviat were imbued with Salesian spirituality and inspired to respond with apostolic action to the complex religious and social issues of their era. Regarded as the authentic interpreter of the Salesian spirit during her lifetime, she was often sought out for her counsel by many of the most prominent ecclesiastics of the day.

Blessed Louis Brisson, OSFS

Bl. Louis Brisson was born on June 23, 1817, in Plancy, France, the only child of Toussaint and Savine Brisson. He was an inquisitive child who had a great interest in both literature and the natural sciences, especially chemistry, physics, and astronomy. After a basic education by a local priest, he entered the diocesan seminary and was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Troyes on December 19, 1840.

Fr. Brisson was assigned to teach science at the Visitation Monastery School in Troyes. He was known as a gifted teacher who enjoyed communicating the wonders of the natural world to his students. Fr. Brisson later became the confessor and chaplain to the Sisters of the Visitation in Troyes, a position he would hold for the next forty-one years. It was during this time that he met the woman who would be his spiritual mentor and inspiration: Venerable Mother Mary de Sales Chappuis, VHM, superior of the Troyes Monastery.
