Tile Policy

St. Francis de Sales School offers engraved alumni tiles for purchase to commemorate our graduates and their time on Bancroft Street. The following guidelines are provided to help continue this meaningful St. Francis tradition.

The tiles are approximately 2.5 by 4.5 inches. Each engraved tile includes the name of one SFS alumnus and his class year. For example: John Q. Smith 2002. The tile price is $50; it will increase to $75 on July 1, 2026.

Please note the following:

  • Alumni Hall tiles are for individuals who graduated in good standing from St. Francis and who have no transcript holds.
     
  • Engraved names must reflect the alumnus’ name on his SFS transcript. Common diminutive nicknames (e.g., “Chris” for “Christopher” or “JP” for “John Paul”) and middle names used commonly as first names are generally permitted.
     
  • Engraving is performed once yearly by a third-party engraving service, typically during the summer.
     
  • Tiles for registered St. Francis students may be purchased at the current price in advance of graduation on a first-come, first-served basis. Tiles purchased in advance will be installed at the next engraving session following the student’s graduation, provided that he graduated in good standing from SFS.
     
  • The purchaser of a tile may select  and reserve a specific tile for installation, provided that the tile has not already been reserved through purchase.
     
  • Refunds are not provided for tiles purchased in advance of graduation, even if the student does not ultimately graduate from SFS. Tiles purchased for ineligible students will be released for future purchase.
     
  • Pursuant to the school’s policy on naming rights, purchase of a tile does not imply that the name or tile will be displayed in perpetuity. St. Francis may at any time demolish, remove, replace or not replace, modify, or move tiles, or determine that display of a name is no longer appropriate.
     
  • Final interpretation of these guidelines rests with the SFS president. These guidelines may change at any time.
